Taiji is the most popular Chinese Martial Art used for both defense and to help improve the body health system.
The aim is to teach people the balance of nature, harmony and a healthy lifestyle. The mind must be in a relaxed yet clear and alert state; this is why it is referred to as “moving meditation”. There are many forms of Taiji, such as Chen-style (陳氏) and Yang-style (楊氏), the most popular styles of Taiji.
Taiji improves the structural integrity of the body by emphasizing correct posture and alignment while practicing the form. The form is a sequence of movements which can be done in a very slow meditative manner or, depending on the fitness of the person, in a more vigorous manner with its emphasis on correct abdominal breathing.
Researchers have found that Taiji practice improves balance, flexibility, and cardiovascular fitness. Other health benefits include relief from pain, fatigue, insomnia, depression, and symptoms of diseases such as diabetes, fibromyalgia, ADHD in adolescents and many others.
